From the Principal’s Desk….

There are two deadlines today.  Today is your last day to order your class photo.  Please do so using this link https://www.mosphotography.com/store/rmds-class-photos-2024

It is also your last day to enrol your child for next year’s Junior Infant Class.  There are 195 applications so if you go past this date your chances of getting a place are very slim.  We have 14 siblings which is a normal amount.  I did ask around the classes for names of siblings so hopefully we haven’t missed anyone.  Use this link if you still need to apply.

As I drove into school in the dark these past few mornings.  The realisation that Winter is nearly here is unavoidable.  Luckily we had Rang a 2 lead our assembly yesterday.  They were teaching us all about the festival of Diwali and the balance between light and dark.  It is never a bad message to remember, there will always be light and dark and even when one is more dominant, it won’t stay that way.  The dancing at the end with the whole school up and moving to Ghostbusters was fantastic.

As the children paraded around Ranelagh today, you could see the joy it brought to the faces of passersby.  Another reminder of the power of simple smiles to raise someone else’s spirits.  We are continuing with our focus on what we can do for others and I was pleased to see some of our students taking this on board as we walked around the area and across to Mt Pleasant.  They are getting better at looking out for and making space for people we meet.  We’re not perfect but it is very difficult when we are walking in a long line.

Congratulations to our raffle winners and thank you to all of you who supported the school with the purchase of tickets and commiserations to all of the children who didn’t win. It’s always hard.  Congratulations to Therese and Anna Deane who both celebrated their graduations this week at post and undergraduate level.  It is a good sign that we have teachers at the start of their career and teachers committed to furthering their learning to better serve our children.

Our Community Gardaí called in to see the children in Rang a 5 agus a 6 and spoke about the dangers of the season.

Have a lovely break and stay away from fireworks and I hope your only problems are how to get the mountain of sugary treats out of your house.

From the Classes…

Just a taste of some of the Halloween Art your children have been creating.

From the Lunch Bag…

The lunch bag are changing their menu in response to feedback from parents.

A tasty and healthy Sweet & Sour Chicken will be replacing the Chicken Paella. This veg-filled addition was carefully crafted with hidden chicory to give its sweet taste. What’s more - it’s completely allergen free!

Our beloved Chicken Curry Wrap, with over one quarter veg, will be returning to replace the BBQ Beef Burrito. Please note that this item contains dairy.

Goujons will be back on the menu!  They will be served three times a week. From Monday to Thursday, they’ll be accompanied by potato cubes and our delicious rainbow 11.

To spice up our Friday menu, the beloved Sausage Baguette will be available. A new Vegetable Pizza will also be a popular addition, with higher wholegrain content for a healthy boost.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to perfect our school lunch service, and remember, we’re always here to answer any questions you may have about these changes.
