From the Principal’s Desk….

At the risk of repeating myself the window for enrolment is open until the 25th October, If you haven’t put your child’s name down please use the link on the school website to do so.

A reminder that we will be hosting a nasal flu vaccination clinic in the GP room on Monday 21st October. If you didn’t sign the consent form sent out with the last two newsletters you may have to fill out a physical form on Monday to avail of the vaccine.  I don’t know if this is possible.  The online application process has closed.

Lots of people were interested in the Trad music classes so I’m delighted to say that they will be going ahead after the Halloween break.

We have been talking a lot about how we can help the community this week.  I think in general we do this as a school really well.  A great example of this was the PA led Halloween Costume swap on Wednesday.  Costumes were able to get another life and some people now don’t have to worry about what to dress up as next week.  Some of the children in rang a cúíg have been busy trying to organise my costume, but it needs some work yet.  A big thank you to all the people who donated all the costumes and to Lorraine and Renagh who gave their time to pull it all together.

I have been asking the children to start looking beyond themselves and their friends when trying to help others.  So the children have been working on leaving space on the footpath for other pedestrians, making space to allow them pass or if none of that is possible saying thank you for waiting for them to pass.  We have also been looking at how we can be mindful of others in the school building, walking on the left hand side being quiet going past the office.  Please feel free to reinforce this message at home. We’re okay at the moment but we could be better and if we all work at it and lead by example it will benefit everyone.

Some of our pupils in Rang a 2 have been going above and beyond and have opened their own little massage business for break time.  I love the inventiveness of their chairs.

Rang a 6 impressed me with the games they made as part of Maths week while Senior infants got creative with leaf umbrellas.  For the week that’s in it, they perhaps should have been sukkots but they are very cute so we’ll let them away with it.

Finally our class photos are ready to be ordered if you would like to please use the following link to see the photo from your class.  The deadline for ordering the photos is next week.  More details are below.

 Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Paul
