From the Principal’s Desk….

13th September 2024

Friday the 13th thankfully has gone unremarked in the school.  We had a lovely morning with our new Junior Infant parents.  Thanks to the PA for organising the event for them.  Unfortunately I didn’t get to enjoy it as I was trying to bilocate between the class meeting for rang 6 and it.  I took one photo and I shall have words with my photo bomber on Monday!!

Our three class meetings this week have been well attended and I hope that those of you who were there found them useful.  There was a mistake in last week’s newsletter.  We had changed the dates to accommodate Rang 2 who go swimming on Thursdays but I gave the days before the change.  The correct days for the meetings are as follows.

Monday 16th - Rang a 3

Tuesday 17th - Rang 2

Wednesday 18th- Rang a 1

Thursday 19th -  Junior Infants

Friday 20th - Senior Infants

The meetings will be starting at 08:45 and are generally finished by 09:30.  Meetings are held in the Seomra Spraoi.  To find it you go past the secretary’s office and turn right.  Go to the top of the stairs and it is on the right.

The classes are in full swing and getting as busy as ever.  I was treated to a lovely autumnal song in Senior Infants.  Rang a hAon are working hard on their handwriting.  I was working on some beautiful ph joins. I just forgot to take a picture.  Rang 2 have started swimming.  Rang a 3 are getting ready for Forest School which will be starting in two weeks.  Moya will be meeting Claudia next week and planning out the 8 weeks of fun and adventure.  Parents might want to check for rain gear. Rang a 4 have been busy designing, making and testing air powered vehicles. There were reports of some of them getting a boost through other means!  It looked like great fun.

A large cohort of Rang a 5 agus a 6 were with at our first ever competitive gaelic football match on Wednesday. (in my memory) We got to use our new kit which was generously donated by last year’s Rang a 6.  The children played really well as a team and had a great time.  This is easier when we are winning we will see how we fare in our match this week against Canal Way Educate Together School.

The highlight of the week was Rang a 6 meeting their Junior Infant buddies.  It is always so lovely to see our senior class take on the role of looking out for our youngest class.

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

 Paul
