SCHOOL NEWS in Brief…..
7th December 2017
From the Principal’s desk:
A reminder that the Christmas Concert will take place on Thursday, 21st December here in the school as follows:
9.30 a.m: Junior Infants, Senior Infants, Rang 1 and Rang 2
11.00 a.m: Rang 3, Rang 4, Rang 5 and Rang 6.
A huge thank you to you all for the generous donations for our festive hampers this year for Focus Ireland. The response was incredible! Over 40 boxes of goods were delivered to Focus Ireland on Wednesday. As well as donating to a good cause the hamper collection raises awareness amongst the children of the plight of homelessness and the right for everyone to have a place to call home. Thank you to all the staff and the Student Council for organising this within the classes and to Ms. Neylon for coordinating the project.

Our Christmas Fair is on this Sunday, 10th December. It really is our biggest fundraiser of the year! Please support it and bring along all your family and friends. It promises to be a great family day out – and a lovely way to get in the festive spirit! The RMDS Choir will be performing at 2pm followed by the first performance EVER from the RMDS Orchestra Ensemble which promises to be a treat!
School will close for the Christmas holidays on Friday, 22nd December at 12pm and reopen on Monday, 8th January 2018.
Please check for lost property at the gate in the morning. All items left at the weekend will be donated to charity.

ET Southwest City School
On Sunday there will be an Educate Together secondary school information stall run by Sarah Carolan and other volunteers.
The aim is to just let people know the following:
The Department of Education has announced that the Harold’s Cross stadium will be rezoned for the purpose of a new secondary school. A small group of parents from the local ET primary schools such as RMDS, Canal Way, Griffith Barracks, Riverside and Rathfarnham have come together to work on this. The campaign is called ETH X - a southwest city secondary school. On the day the volunteers will be taking email addresses to form a mailing list in order to keep everyone informed.
