There is a real air of busyness running through the school as several of the classes are working on their performances for the play. The stage will be up from Monday. So next week the normal routine of the day will be different and for some children this can be quite tough. If your child is having an issue then please let us know. Don’t forget the performance will be on the 18th December, Junior performance at 09:00 and Senior performance at 10:30. Our hall is very small so please keep the numbers attending as small as possible and to be fair to the performers as quiet as possible. Small babies generally don’t like it and let us know as only babies can. Thank you to those of you who have already been in contact with the class teachers offering various kinds of support. It is going to be a great community occasion.
Rang a 6 have been busy working on their business initiatives highlighting their entrepreneurial skills. I was in class today working on their profit outlooks and how to maximise profit. I’m looking forward to sampling all that they produce and my favourite part of the initiative are the discussions afterwards.
The children have all been very busy making decorations for the recycled art competition. Some of the entries are on show in the window of my office. The deadline for the competition is next Friday so expect the window to get busier as the week progresses. Thank you to Juan and the PA elves who organised the tree for the hall. The children have started adding their decorations to it. It is always my favourite tree once the whole school have had their chance to add their piece to it. The Kriskindle postbox, beautifully made by Neysa and Rang 6 has been very busy as classes dropped off their cards for their buddy. We’re looking forward to opening it and the classes are all asking who is going to get to deliver them all.
The PA elves are all incredibly busy and I hope the weather behaves itself on Sunday and that we get to enjoy the fair and all the effort that goes into making it such a lovely day without needing an umbrella.
The choir will be there to let us hear what the residents of Leeson Park Nursing Home got to experience today.
Next week will be a very busy one for all the classes but particularly busy one for Rang 3 agus a 4 who will be heading to the National Indoor arena in Blanchardstown Tuesday to practice with other schools for the Peace Prom concert in the New Year.
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago about a potential treat from the PA for the whole school but we have had to put that on hold due to a scheduling error. It was due to be an aftershow party on the 19th December so instead we are going to host our own in school event and combine it with a fundraiser for St Vincent de Paul and the Irish Red Cross. All the extra curricular activities finished up this week with the exception of Drama which will have a catch up class this Wednesday. If you have any feedback on the classes please let me know.

TWO MORE SLEEPS TO GO!!!
Our Xmas fair is this Sunday, from 11am - 3pm. Bring your hats, scarves, gloves and wallets (!!).
We are really trying to encourage cash only this year, though we will have SumUp machines if people run out!
There will be mulled wine, hot chocolate, our infamous restaurant, Santa, ALL the usuals AND a special visit from our beautiful school choir. The choir will be singing at 1pm and rumour has it may be joined by a special guest!!!!

On Dec 19th we will be having our annual Charity Day here in RMDS. Everyone will ‘Wear your Festive Jumper to School day’ and we will be having a MOVIE DAY for the charities chosen by RMDS - St. Vincent De Paul (St. Audeon’s conference) and the Irish Red Cross. SVP information
The St. Audoen’s group from SVP supports the south inner city area. There are 7 members in the group all of whom are volunteers. The group meets up with families struggling to survive on the income available to them and give food bags and other financial assistance. Last Christmas the group assisted 134 families including 77 children and teenagers
When people are in real need and have no place else to turn, the St Vincent de Paul is always there.
Who are the Irish Red Cross and what do they do?
The society is organised on a voluntary basis. In Ireland, its activities include mountain rescue, first aid education of the public, the provision of first aid and ambulance services at public events. Outside Ireland, the society provides relief and services in response to natural disasters and in regions of conflict.
Palestine and Gaza
The Irish Red Cross is providing funding to support our partners in the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement – primarily the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) – to respond to urgent needs and to provide lifesaving assistance. When needed, assistance will be provided to people directly affected by the crisis in the region and in Ireland.
To date, the Irish Red Cross has contributed over €600,000 to assist the PRCS in providing lifesaving assistance across Gaza such as the delivery of food, shelter and as well as health services.
With nearly 800 staff and more than 450 volunteers in the Gaza Strip, the PRCS has reached over 1.8 million people.
